Counselling Packages for Parish Councils

With the national focus on young people’s mental health, Milton Keynes Parish Councils are increasingly turning to YiS as the local specialists in supporting mental health and wellbeing in young people and the professionals who work alongside them.

50% of mental health issues in adults present before the age of 14, and 75% before the age of 24. Recognising mental health issues early and giving young people the tools needed to manage can prevent re-occurrence and benefit their health and wellbeing for life.

πŸ™Œ About YiS πŸ™Œ

YiS is a community led and confidential counselling service that provides young people aged 11-21 who live, learn or work in Milton Keynes with accredited mental health support. Our accreditation is by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), the national body for counselling and counsellors.

96% of our client’s felt that we helped them, 94% were able to β€˜move on’ and 99% would recommend us to a friend.

Great Linford Parish Council recently purchased a counselling package from us and we are actively looking to partner with other parish councils who recognise the local need for urgent mental health support for children and young people outlined in our response to the MK Council Budget consultation which you can read here.

🎁 Counselling Packages for Parish Councils 🎁

YiS would welcome the opportunity to work with you to develop a counselling package that is tailored to your individual and unique needs.

All of our counsellors are highly qualified volunteers who are fully trained and supervised. The funding you provide will cover the cost of your volunteers DBS checks, monthly clinical supervision, our specialist public liability insurance, volunteer expenses, management etc.

We anticipate that every young person will receive 6 weeks of counselling (6 hours in total), but some may receive less as their issues are more mild and some may receive more on rare occasions where the counsellor and young person feel it is necessary. There are a variety of different options for you to develop with us:

PLEASE NOTE: Figures are for term time only so the yearly cost covers 38 weeks. It can take us approximately 8-12 weeks to recruit, DBS check and train a counsellor that suits the needs of your parish so please contact us as soon as possible if you would like to explore a fully qualified YiS counsellor starting with you in the next few months.

πŸ‘₯ Staff Support πŸ‘₯

We provide professionals who support young people with supervision. This is a safe space to reflect on their practice and its implications for future action. Our supervisors challenge supervisees to think outside of their current ways of working whilst offering support and advice to learn alternative ways of working. Price: Β£40 per session, can be monthly, half termly or on an ad hoc basis

πŸŽ’ Training and Workshops πŸŽ’

YiS is currently piloting group training sessions and workshops on specific mental health issues for both young people and staff members. These sessions are written by counsellors and delivered by fully trained facilitators who specialise in youth work. We are also looking to provide mental health themed talks and events. Please contact us if you would like to take part in this pilot scheme.
