Our counselling service is a brief 6 session model for young people aged 11-21 who live, learn or work in Milton Keynes or the surrounding areas (areas that pay council tax to MK Council). Counselling is a way of helping with problems or a space to think things out. It's based on building a trusting relationship between you and your counsellor. It can help you talk about your experiences and make sense of them. Counselling can help to express difficult feelings and learn how to manage them in a helpful way.
It may be a few days to a week before we are able to contact you about your referral. However, you can talk to someone from YiS about what else may help (services we offer as well as other options locally) by calling 01908 892998 or chat with us on Messenger at m.me/YiSMentalHealth.
You can also visit our Support & Advice page for other options, including people you can speak to straight away.
If you live in one of the following areas you are likely to be seen sooner thanks to local funders:
Crownhill, Grange Farm, Medbourne, Shenley Church End, Shenley Wood, Oakhill and Oxley Park residents have places funded by Shenley Church End Parish Council.
Two Mile Ash, Kiln Farm and Wymbush residents have places funded by Abbey Hill Parish Council.
Thanks to funding from MK Council we are also able to see young people with an ASD or ADHD diagnoses sooner than normal.
If you want quicker access to free counselling spaces in your area or some long term options, please contact MK Council, your Parish Council, Ward Councillor, GP Surgery or local school and tell them to get in touch.
